![]() ![]() Once all your settings have been entered, click the Ok button to apply them and close the dialog box. (In case your connected unit does not show up on the settings, please click on the rescan button and try and reconnecting the unit to your PC) You can easily customize the rest of the settings by switching through the different tabs. Raw mode sends characters directly to the screen. This also allows you to turn local echo off/on and switch between the two modes: Line and Raw. The Line mode of the program makes sure that the relevant data is not sent until the Enter key has been pressed by the user. It also has support for I2C and a PIC Programmer (parallel port) although I have not used those features. The terminal tab on the left margin allows you to set certain options such as the Enter Key Emulation which can be switched between 3 options of Carriage Return and Line Feed: CR+LF, CR and LF. Hopefully if people have other terminal programs that they like, they will share their experiences also. Just thought I would share this with everyone. And last but not least, the program is Freeware. The program also allows you to send out any Hex values that you specify and not only the 'printable' characters from the keyboard. ![]() What I like best about it is that you can display the incoming stream in ASCII, Hex, or a mixture of both. It has no support for dialing modems, BBS etc - that is what hyperterminal does. It is far better for debugging comms than Hyperterminal. Realterm is a terminal program specially designed for capturing, controlling and debugging binary and other difficult data streams. I use a program called RealTerm that I think is far better so I thought I would suggest it to others. I found out a long time ago that Hyperterminal was very limited in it's ability to be a useful debug tool. I see many posts with people using Hyperterminal when trying to debug serial communications with a PIC. ![]()
